How it works
What are Flagrings?
Flagrings are independently rotating flagpole attachment rings built around sealed, 100% zirconia ceramic ball bearings. Every Flagrings product uses ceramic bearings, including both solid-metal and 3D-printed models. They let the upper and lower attachment points turn with changing wind so a grommeted flag has a better chance to rotate around the pole instead of winding tightly around it.
How do Flagrings help stop a flag from wrapping around the pole?
Wrapping usually starts when one or both attachment points bind under the flag’s weight. Flagrings use low-friction, sealed 100% zirconia ceramic bearings so each attachment can rotate independently under load. That helps the flag follow a change in wind direction and, after a brief wrap, gives it a better chance to unwrap itself when the breeze returns.
Will Flagrings guarantee that my flag never wraps?
No honest spinner can promise that. A sudden lull, gust, downdraft, or wind reversal can temporarily fold almost any flag around a pole. Flagrings reduce binding at the attachment points, but pole angle, flag size and weight, spacing, nearby walls or branches, and local airflow all affect performance.
Why are sealed zirconia ceramic ball bearings important?
A plain plastic-on-plastic or metal-on-metal ring may spin when empty but drag once the flag pulls down on it. A sealed, 100% zirconia ceramic ball bearing reduces rotational resistance under real load while helping keep dirt and moisture away from the moving parts.
Can Flagrings help my flag last longer?
They can help reduce avoidable wear. Smooth rotation and properly spaced attachments reduce friction, twisting, and stress at the grommets and reinforced heading. Flag material, weather exposure, pole clearance, and correct sizing still matter.
Choosing yours
Should I choose direct-mount or clip-on Flagrings?
Choose direct-mount when the same flag stays up for long periods. The flag attaches directly to the swivels, giving you a cleaner, quieter setup with fewer separate parts.
Choose clip-on when you change flags often. Extra-large stainless-steel clips make seasonal, military, or decorative flags faster to swap, and the vertical eyelet lets each clip hang naturally.
What makes the sealed, 100% zirconia ceramic bearings different?
Every Flagrings swivel now uses sealed, 100% zirconia ceramic bearings for smooth, low-friction rotation and maximum corrosion resistance. Ceramic is the only option across the entire product line, including all solid-metal and 3D-printed Flagrings.
Are the sealed, 100% zirconia ceramic bearings really rust-proof?
Yes. The entire ceramic bearing is made from 100% zirconia ceramic, so the ceramic bearing cannot rust. Other exposed hardware should still be inspected and cared for based on the product configuration and your environment.
What product constructions are available?
The Flagrings line includes heavy-duty UV-rated 3D-printed swivel rings and solid machined-metal configurations, with direct-mount and clip-on choices depending on the listing. Every construction uses the same type of sealed, 100% zirconia ceramic bearings. Check the selected product page for its exact body material, hardware, color, size, and availability.
Do you offer black and silver options?
Black and silver finishes are offered on selected configurations. Availability varies by product and size, so use the color selector on the product page to see the current combination available for your pole. Every color and construction uses sealed, 100% zirconia ceramic bearings.
What comes with one set?
A standard set includes two Flagrings—one upper and one lower—enough for one typical flag with two grommets. Clip-style sets include the heavy-duty stainless-steel clips; direct-mount sets attach the flag without separate clips.
Fit & installation
What flagpole sizes do Flagrings fit?
Current core sizes are 1″, 1.25″, 1.5″, 1.75″, and 2″, measured by the pole’s outside diameter at the exact location where the ring will sit.
How do I measure my flagpole correctly?
Measure the outside diameter—never the circumference and never the advertised pole length. A caliper is ideal. For an installed pole, use the cardboard-notch method:
- Cut a small notch in a scrap of cardboard.
- Slide it onto the pole where the swivel will sit.
- Enlarge the notch until it fits snugly.
- Measure the width of the notch with a ruler or tape.

If the measurement falls between sizes, ask before ordering.
Will Flagrings fit SunSetter, Flagpole Buddy, Costco, RV, or trailer poles?
Flagrings fit many common residential, commercial, RV, and trailer-mounted poles, including many SunSetter, Flagpole Buddy, and Costco setups. Brand name alone does not guarantee fit—verify the outside diameter where each ring will operate.
What about tapered or telescoping poles?
Measure the exact section where each ring will rotate. Make sure joints, collars, buttons, taper changes, brackets, and finials do not block a complete turn. The upper and lower mounting points may sit on sections with different diameters, so measure both.
How do I install Flagrings?
Lower the pole to a safe working height. Slide the correctly sized upper and lower rings onto the pole, position them to match the flag’s grommets, and secure the integrated stainless-steel screws. Attach the flag directly or with the included clips, depending on the style. Confirm both rings rotate freely before raising the pole.
How far apart should the two rings be?
Match the grommet spacing so the flag’s reinforced heading is supported but not stretched drum-tight. Too much tension adds friction and distortion; too little spacing allows sagging and bunching. Make small adjustments and observe the flag through several wind conditions.
Can I fly two flags on one pole?
Yes, if the pole and bracket are rated for the combined wind load. Give each flag independent rotating support when possible and enough separation to prevent continuous rubbing. Avoid hanging two flags from one overloaded upper swivel, which can bind and make the flags drag each other around the pole.
Performance & care
Which flag material works best with an anti-wrap setup?
Lightweight nylon lifts in gentler breezes and often responds faster when wind direction changes. Heavier polyester can be durable in stronger winds, but it adds load and may need more airflow to lift and unwrap. The best choice depends on the pole, angle, flag size, and local wind.
Does flag size affect tangling?
Yes. A larger flag adds wind load, attachment load, and more fabric that can wrap around the pole. For many common wall-mounted poles at roughly 45°, a 2.5′ × 4′ flag may behave more freely than a heavier 3′ × 5′ flag. Always match the flag to the pole, bracket, and exposure.
Are Flagrings suitable for coastal or salt-air locations?
Yes, with proper care. Every model uses sealed, 100% zirconia ceramic bearings, making the ceramic bearings fully rust-proof and especially well suited to persistent salt-air or wet environments. Salt can still affect exposed hardware, so inspect it regularly and rinse away salt deposits with fresh water when appropriate.
Should I lubricate the sealed zirconia ceramic bearings?
Sealed, 100% zirconia ceramic bearings are designed to keep their operating surfaces protected from contaminants; routine external lubrication is not normally needed. Do not spray the ceramic bearings with oil unless the instructions for your exact product recommend it—excess lubricant can attract dirt. If rotation changes, contact Flagrings for specific guidance.
What maintenance should I do?
Periodically check that both rings turn freely, fasteners remain secure, and nothing has shifted into a pole joint, bracket, or taper. Do not overtighten set screws. In salt air, rinse exterior surfaces when appropriate and inspect more often. Replace a waterlogged, badly frayed, or overly heavy flag before blaming the hardware.
Can I leave my flag up in high winds?
Flagrings address rotation; they do not increase the wind rating of your flag, pole, bracket, or wall mounting. Remove the flag when conditions exceed any component’s rating or during severe weather. Also keep a full circle of clearance from roofs, gutters, walls, trees, and other flags.
Orders & support
Where are Flagrings made?
Flagrings products are made in the USA. Founder Giuseppe Giannola designed them after getting tired of rings that tangled, snapped, or wore out, and he remains the person customers reach for product support.
How much is shipping, and when will my order ship?
Shipping is free on all orders. Orders placed before 1 PM Eastern / 10 AM Pacific are scheduled to ship the same business day from California. Carrier travel time begins after dispatch and varies by destination.
What is the guarantee and return policy?
Flagrings backs orders with a 100% satisfaction-or-money-back guarantee. If you order the wrong size and return or exchange it for sizing reasons, you are responsible for the needed shipping costs—which is why measuring first matters.
